It’s also very hard to type on.

And so, you can imagine the oddly-specific type of challenge it poses to niji・journey, where our primary business is turning text into image.

Sometimes, making the interface is just as important as making the model. With the release of our own mobile app, we’ve spent a long time crafting mobile-specific interactions for you to enjoy. Please, give these new features a try!

Finding inspiration: [LIVE⦿] Feed

Sometimes, it’s hard to find inspiration. For times like this, I like to take a look at what the community is making.

The LIVE feed pushes the latest and greatest generations from the community straight to your device, for an extra boost, when you are staring at that empty prompt box.

Tapping an image in the LIVE feed pulls up the prompt used to generate the image where you can tap tags to add them to your prompt box, or you can make strong / weak variations of the image as well!

Crafting Prompts: Composable Tags

Addressing the difficulty of text manipulation with thumbs, we’ve implemented some easy text tools.

Copying the entire prompt

To repeat a prompt you’ve used before, simply press this icon next to the prompt to bring it down to the text box below.

Copying part of a prompt

If you only want part of a prompt, you can click on a tag. On the niji mobile app, commas separate your prompt into tags. You can use tags to remix and repeat the parts of prompts that have worked for you!

Copying parts of others’ prompts

You can browse through others’ generations. If you see something you like, simply click the tag to add it to your prompt.

Crafting prompts: Easy image prompting

You can upload your images directly from your phone’s camera roll.

Using the system above, you can use both words and pictures, or just pictures to prompt!

Tuning your perfect generation: Quick Settings

Many times, tuning a drawing with finesse comes down to the interplay between prompt wording and settings. We made the settings easier to use in the mobile app!

Future Plans

Invariably, what people want to do on their phones is different from what they want to do on the computer, and we’re excited to study what this means for niji’s control flow. In the next few months, we’ll be studying the statistics and reinterpreting some of the more advanced niji discord features for mobile.
