How to Use

You can get niji to write text by putting the exact words in between quotations “” when making your prompt.

For example:

Our system can even do some simple kanji!

We’re not limited to girls holding signs. In particular, I like it when the letters are integrated straight into the scene.

The Hidden Voice of Words

As anybody who has put words on top of pictures will know, there is a great finesse in choosing the right font to match the picture. The shape of a letter conveys so much hidden meaning. It has a “voice” of its own.

For example, compare these two version of our spellbrush logo

Why does the one on the left look better than the one on the right?

If anything, when you compare the direct pictures side by side, the right one looks a lot more lively.

The answer lies in the match between the font and the illustration. The curve of the final picture is fitted directly to follow the curve of the words. A more harmonious match between text and image is more pleasing to the eye than a simple good illustration by itself!

And so when artists are doing the lettering by hand, they take great pains in matching the shapes of the letters and the picture!

What I really like about niji’s writing feature is that it also exhibits this harmony between illustration and lettering. For example, niji knows to rough the words up, if you are asking for something heavy.

Niji will make the font graphic, when the rendering is flat.

A special message should be written in an intentional way, won’t you agree?

There is a particular elegance in the fonts that niji uses to adorn short words. The choice of shape and color of the letters helps it blend seamlessly into the picture.
